About Me

The Smith Family Comic Strip: George created "The Smith Family" comic strip, inspired by his own family life. The strip satirized "the perils of parenthood and the joys of ice cream." The comic strip ran in newspapers across the United States. The family comic strip has been preserved online by his grandson, Charley George, at thsmithstrip.com Family Life: George married Virginia Quinlan, and together they had 12 children. The family moved from New York City to Campbell Hall, NY, in 1951, and then moved West, eventually settling in White Salmon, Washington, in 1972. He had a large family with 44 grandchildren, 166 great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. George and his wife lived on a farm on Sanborn Road until 2000 when declining health forced them to move into town. He was a loving, spiritual, funny, and a great storyteller who shared his ideas with his family. He was also a devoted family man with a large and loving family. His grandson, Charley George, is actively working to keep his grandfather’s artistic legacy alive for future generations. Charley George has digitized his grandfathers works and is active on social media, promoting his grandparents' accomplishments.
